Avery Nix has emerged as a beacon of hope in the realm of mental health and substance use disorder recovery. Since embarking on a journey to reclaim personal freedom in 2013, he has devoted his life to helping others navigate the challenging path to recovery. Currently serving as the Executive Director of Valor Behavioral Health in Atlanta, Georgia, Avery leads with a passion for making a positive impact on individuals and families.
With an impressive background spanning nearly a decade in the field, he began his commitment with humble roots. Starting as a night tech with just 13 months of continuous recovery, Avery steadily climbed the ranks, becoming a certified recovery coach through the Georgia Council on Recovery. He played a pivotal role in launching the peer support program in the emergency departments of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, showcasing a dedication to expanding the reach of support services.
Avery’s expertise extends beyond the confines of an office, as he actively engages in community and family outreach. His genuine love for spending quality time with family is matched by a passion for physical fitness, exemplified through a commitment to CrossFit. Avery’s unique journey and experiences have positioned him as a leader in the field, specializing in assisting families in navigating the complexities of treatment and levels of care. Prior to his role at Valor, Avery provided invaluable treatment placement and case management services for both adolescent and adult programs, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched. Avery Nix’s story is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the transformative power of recovery.
