Cognitive behavioral therapy in Atlanta is one of the most widely used forms of psychotherapy to help treat mental health disorders, alcohol use disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.
Cognitive behavioral therapy in Atlanta is one of the most widely used forms of psychotherapy to help treat mental health disorders, alcohol use disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. It also often serves as the basis for other forms of therapy, such as ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy). At Valor Behavioral Health, we offer CBT therapy in Atlanta as part of our personalized mental health treatment plans.
CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) helps people focus on identifying and changing negative behaviors and thought patterns. It is based on the concept that our behaviors, thoughts, and feelings are all interconnected. By examining these and learning how to replace them with positive behaviors, thoughts, and feelings, it helps improve mental well-being and other aspects of our lives.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Atlanta at Valor Behavioral Health works by helping individuals change their behaviors, thoughts, and feelings that are contributing to their mental health, alcohol, and substance use disorders. During therapy sessions, individuals learn how to recognize the distorted patterns that are creating issues.
Once recognized, individuals use different tools and techniques to help them adjust their patterns with positive behaviors, thoughts, and feelings. CBT also helps people gain a better understanding of their behaviors, thoughts, and feelings and how they relate to their peculiar situations. Additionally, they learn how to develop coping skills to address triggers and challenging situations.
Individual and group therapy sessions can use a combination of role-playing, relaxation techniques, and learning how to face one’s fears in a positive manner.

Our PHP is for individuals who need a highly structured and intensive treatment environment similar to residential care. However, they do not require round-the-clock supervision. People in this program meet for full-day sessions and return home in the evenings.
Our IOP is a step-down level of care from our PHP. It provides more flexibility to maintain commitments outside of treatment. People in this program meet several times weekly for half-day sessions.
Our outpatient program is for people who still need help and support after completing a higher level of care. This ongoing treatment provides access to the therapies and services specific to each individual and their treatment needs. Sessions are scheduled at times and frequencies that work best for the individual, usually a few times weekly for a few hours.
Our adolescent program addresses the specific mental health needs of tweens and teens. We offer the same levels of care as our adult programs to address and treat adolescent mental health, alcohol, and substance use disorders in a caring, supportive, and safe environment.

Ashley Stover2024-09-11Extremely Disappointing Experience I recently attended Valor Behavioral Health for mental health treatment, but unfortunately, my experience was overwhelmingly negative. While I had hoped to find support and healing, I encountered several major issues. After serving 20 years in the United States Air Force I have PTSD, Depression and Anxiety and I was very hopeful to receive help from Valor but it ended up being a total waste of 3 months of my time, money, and energy. The quality of care was subpar, with classes that were unengaging and unhelpful. However, my main concerns were with the administrative team, who were consistently unprofessional and unresponsive. Even more alarming, I witnessed staff members engaging in inappropriate relationships with clients, which is a serious ethical violation. Furthermore, I suspect that the facility may be engaging in insurance fraud, which is not only illegal but also a betrayal of trust. What's even more disturbing is that many of the positive reviews I've seen online appear to be fake, written by actual staff members themselves. This lack of transparency and integrity further erodes trust in an already deeply flawed institution. Overall, I would strongly advise others to explore alternative options for mental health treatment. There are likely better, more reputable facilities that can provide the support and care you deserve. This review will be deleted soon since it’s not a 5 star review!!Liam Parsell2024-08-18My experience at Valor has been nothing less than outstanding. I was first introduced to Kerry when I arrived who embodies the perfect first interaction for an incoming client. The family culture they deliver to clients works and made me feel at home almost instantly. I highly recommend this facility if you need to conquer a bump in your life.Tyler Yaughn2024-08-18Great place to recover!!! Therapists are attentive and knowledgeable. The owner does not live in Georgia.Evan Mccavey2024-08-15I highly recommend Valor Behavioral Health! The therapist, and the whole team goes above and beyond. I have been to multiple treatment centers, and as a 19 year old I can say this is the best treatment for anyone young or older. They communicate effectively and clearly. Any issue arises; they handle it with the utmost professionalism. The qualities they have shown to shine above all are respect, care, and how they truly figure out a individualized treatment plan that will help you or a loved one get pass with whatever you struggle with mental health and or substance abuse wise.Charles Aldridge2024-08-07Overall a great experience.
