At Valor Behavioral Health, our outpatient rehab program helps people overcome their addiction to drugs and alcohol. We provide behavioral counseling, medical intervention, and support to help people resist the urge to relapse. Someone who also struggles with poor mental health can receive specially designed treatment that addresses both substance use disorders and mental health disorders.
As of 2021, more than one in five adults in the U.S. had a mental illness, making finding effective treatment a common issue for millions. We treat several types of mental health disorders in our outpatient rehab program.
Disorders we provide care for include:
Drug and alcohol addiction often co-occur with mental health disorders. In addition, substance abuse can lead to development a mental health disorder. Therefore, it is difficult to know which disorder came first.
Because of this, we treat addiction the same as other mental health disorders. So, treatment for addiction is similar in that you’ll attend therapy and group sessions. We also encourage family involvement for long-term recovery.
At Valor Behavioral Health, we treat the following substance use disorders:
When it comes to treatment available by outpatient for mental health in Atlanta vs. inpatient care, definite differences exist. Inpatient programs require the person to move into a facility usually for 30 days or longer. For many, this means taking a leave from a job or college and also takes them away from their families and personal responsibilities. This option works well for people whose mental health disorders are quite severe, but it isn’t the only choice available.
Outpatient rehab allows the individual to remain living in their homes and travel to a facility for their therapy sessions. Depending on which level of outpatient care a person chooses, this can leave time to still work or attend school, and take care of home and social activities. Outpatient rehab is more flexible in its time requirements, which allows people to balance their regular lives with getting the quality care they need.
Many of the same evidence-based and holistic therapies offered in inpatient rehabs also come standard with outpatient programs. Therapists in both types of programs teach people to understand the triggers that impact their ability to stay sober and their mental health. The individual processes what they learn and learns to live a sober life and ease their symptoms of mental illness.
Who is outpatient rehab a good fit for? Someone who has a stable home environment and has had an evaluation that shows outpatient care will suit their needs. The person either has already completed inpatient rehab or did not need it. While requiring treatment, their condition is not severe enough to warrant checking into a facility to receive round-the-clock care.
We offer three levels of outpatient care, and each has its own schedule:
Sessions take place a minimum of six hours per day, five days per week.
Sessions take place a few hours per day, several days per week. The exact amount of time will be determined upon admission.
The lowest level of care typically includes attending individual therapy or another type of therapy that continues the lessons learned in higher levels of care.
Determining which outpatient mental health rehab in Atlanta is right for you depends on a few factors. A person who has a stable home life that includes not being constantly exposed to triggering people or situations can do well with an outpatient program. If you need much of the structured care of an inpatient program without actually moving into a rehab program, PHP may be the right fit. It offers much of the same type of care and takes place several days per week.
Someone who doesn’t need as much treatment as PHP offers often does well in an IOP program. It requires fewer days of treatment and not as many hours per day, yet still provides valuable exposure to multiple types of therapy.
For those who require the least amount of treatment, a regular OP plan can give them what they need. One or two appointments per week can continue to keep a person on the right path without taking up much of their time.

Ashley Stover2024-09-11Extremely Disappointing Experience I recently attended Valor Behavioral Health for mental health treatment, but unfortunately, my experience was overwhelmingly negative. While I had hoped to find support and healing, I encountered several major issues. After serving 20 years in the United States Air Force I have PTSD, Depression and Anxiety and I was very hopeful to receive help from Valor but it ended up being a total waste of 3 months of my time, money, and energy. The quality of care was subpar, with classes that were unengaging and unhelpful. However, my main concerns were with the administrative team, who were consistently unprofessional and unresponsive. Even more alarming, I witnessed staff members engaging in inappropriate relationships with clients, which is a serious ethical violation. Furthermore, I suspect that the facility may be engaging in insurance fraud, which is not only illegal but also a betrayal of trust. What's even more disturbing is that many of the positive reviews I've seen online appear to be fake, written by actual staff members themselves. This lack of transparency and integrity further erodes trust in an already deeply flawed institution. Overall, I would strongly advise others to explore alternative options for mental health treatment. There are likely better, more reputable facilities that can provide the support and care you deserve. This review will be deleted soon since it’s not a 5 star review!!Liam Parsell2024-08-18My experience at Valor has been nothing less than outstanding. I was first introduced to Kerry when I arrived who embodies the perfect first interaction for an incoming client. The family culture they deliver to clients works and made me feel at home almost instantly. Facilitators and management are excellent.Tracy Couch2024-08-16This place does not provide food . You will be lucky if you see a therapist. They do not respect HIPAA. The owner does not live in Georgia.Evan Mccavey2024-08-15I highly recommend Valor Behavioral Health! The therapist, and the whole team goes above and beyond. I have been to multiple treatment centers, and as a 19 year old I can say this is the best treatment for anyone young or older. They communicate effectively and clearly. Any issue arises; they handle it with the utmost professionalism. The qualities they have shown to shine above all are respect, care, and how they truly figure out a individualized treatment plan that will help you or a loved one get pass with whatever you struggle with mental health and or substance abuse wise.Charles Aldridge2024-08-07Overall a great experience.
